Holland Gives Back to Nashville, Davison County Pre-Trial Housing Facility Enjoys Visit

Robb Holland won back-to-back races at the Big Machine Music City Grand Prix in 2022. The fanfare of Nashville welcomes him and the GT America powered by AWS series back in 2023. One specific group of viewers is gathered outside Turn 11 to see the driver. Young faces watch on from the Davison County Pre-Trial Housing Facility, where Holland spends time with the potential of America. The facility has welcomed Holland for three years in a row. In 2023, two dozen boys gathered in a classroom to listen to Holland's booming voice as he began with the basics. He’s a multi-championship-winning Porsche driver running with SRO Motorsports America. Holland has driven all over the world not just as a driver but as a reporter, testing the latest and greatest from major manufacturers. The boys' interest is perked when they learn Holland drives a Porsche Cayenne on the street that has 850 horsepower. More excited when they learn about the carnage he’s seen in racing. Some of it his own. One listener interjects with the assumption that Holland must be a little cocky when racing if he’s found himself entangled on track with competitors. The further explanation of mental toughness by Holland left a palpable feeling in the classroom. “I’m not emotional when I drive,” Holland said. “I focus on myself and what I can do. You can’t beat me when I focus on my success. You lose when you lose your emotions. I own you if I get you to lose yourself. If I get you mad, if I get you upset- I own you.” The conversation turns to learning about the Music City Grand Prix. The Pre-Trial Housing Facility is the building outside Turn 11 and has a view of the front stretch and a portion of the pitlane. The sounds of the cars reverberate inside the cement halls while the music from the various stages fills the gaps in on-track action. The boys and girls lucky enough to have a dorm room facing the circuit can watch from the comfort of their beds. From Holland visiting the kids to watching the races Saturday and Sunday is all a unique opportunity that excited the boys invested in the new information being shared with them. “The purpose of coming here and talking to these kids is to give them a different perspective,” Holland said. “Some of the kids don’t know what opportunity is out there for them. They need someone who can come in and say, ‘This isn’t the rest of your life, you made a mistake, plan your next step.’ Then I give them direction into the unique opportunities available inside motorsport from driving to crew.” Holland offers each of the teens an opportunity to come to work for him if they complete their program in the facility by the next race season. They’re all thrilled at the thought of being a part of a team. The ease of Holland and his perceptive cool has earned him a level of trust amongst the crowd. The boys all triple-check that it's true, they really would get paid to work around race cars. “They need something to look forward to,” Holland said. “I truly want them to take me up on the offer. Every year we’ve been here I extend the invitation, and I do have some guys take me up on it. There are so many opportunities in racing for guys to get involved and I want them to know they’re in a position to grow into a career that can open multiple doors and really change the trajectory of their life.” The Music City Grand Prix announced a new multi-year deal on Thursday, Aug. 3 outlining the continuation of the race with an updated track and new date of Sept. 13-15, 2024. The Music City Grand Prix will continue to build on its commitment to the betterment of city of Nashville and the state of Tennessee. Unfortunately, SRO America will part ways with the event as the 2024 calendar continues to finalize, but Holland has promised to return to visit the kids regardless. “I started this. I don’t plan on leaving them hanging.”
