GT America Finishes Friday with Practice Two

Under sunny skies, GT America powered by AWS finished Practice Two at Road America. The 30-minute session completed the day for the series as competitors now look ahead to qualifying and Race One. The practice was green until the final lap as the checkered flag flew. The No. 428 van der Steur Racing Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 ended the session stranded off track but was recovered without issue. While the damage was minimal to the No. 428 Aston Martin Vantage AMR, one entry will noticeably not participate in the weekend competition. James Sofronas in the No. 14 GMG Racing Audi R8 LMS of James Sofronas sustained major damage during testing and will miss the weekend. SRO3 Class Memo Gidley in the No. 101 TKO Motorsports Mercedes-AMG GT3 is back on top, not that he was ever far away. Gidley posted a 2:04.649 to take the top spot overall and in the SRO3 Class. He was followed by George Kurtz in the No. 04 CrowdStrike by Riley Mercedes-AMG GT3. Kurtz was fastest in Practice One with a 2:03.616. He followed the effort with a Best Lap of 2:04.943 for second in Practice Two. Anthony Bartone in the No. 427 RealTime Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 went back-to-back practices in third place. He turned a lap time of 2:05.572. GT4 Class Elias Sabo again lit up the GT4 Class, leading the way in his No. 8 Flying Lizard Motorsports Aston Martin Vantage AMR. He topped the charts with a 2:17.069 lap time. Mirroring his Practice One result Jason Bell in the No. 2 Flying Lizard Motorsports Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 was second fastest. His best lap time was a 2:17.07, both drivers a bit slower in Practice Two with track temperatures higher with the heat of the day. Current points leader Ross Chouest in the No. 50 Chouest Povoledo Racing Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 ended the session third in the class. He turned a lap time of 2:17.473 to again give the top spots to Aston Martin AMR.Let’s Go Racing The day is done for GT America powered by AWS. Saturday, Aug. 19 starts off with qualifying at 8:05 a.m. The cool temperatures of the morning hours should give the session added excitement with lower lap times. The series will cap its day off with Race One. The green flag flies at 12:55 p.m. for the 40-minute race.
