George Russell Has Bizarrely Pinned His Recent Form On Being Poorly

Posted on November 26, 2023 | by Charley Williams For most people, like you and me, when we don’t feel very well, we like to curl up in a ball on the sofa with a duvet, make some soup, sit and watch rubbish TV while bathing in Vicks VapoRub and watch the hours tick by…  But if you’re George Russell, you like to go and get into a Formula 1 car and push it to the limits instead. Same thing, we guess ???? It’s no secret that the 2023 Mercedes car hasn’t provided the results the team hoped for this season, and after being desperate to get rid of last year’s W13, the drivers and team boss, Toto Wolff, have made their feelings known about the W14 too. There hasn’t been a weekend where both drivers were comfortable with the car, and as George explained to media including The Race: “It’s definitely been a challenging season, no doubt. “It’s definitely a very challenging car to drive, and I think that’s shown with the pace with Lewis and I [have had]. I think over the season we’re joint on qualifying performances, but we’re never the same pace. Either I’m four tenths ahead, or he’s four tenths ahead. “So it just shows how difficult it is to get it in the sweet spot.” But Russell seems to have found the secret to a good F1 performance: being ill! ???? He told Sky Sports F1: “I’ve been really ill the last two weeks, and I’ve been really, really quick, so I don’t know if I need to be ill more often or what it is! “But the last two weeks, I’ve just felt super comfortable in the car and had about, on average, three hours of sleep per night, so maybe that’s the secret that everyone is missing!” Not something we’d recommend, though!
