Toto Wolff’s Brutally Honest Review Of ‘Miserable’ 2023 Mercedes Car

Posted on November 5, 2023 | by Charley Williams Is anyone else experiencing some serious Deja Vu right now? Yesterday, Lewis Hamilton told the media he was literally counting down the days until this season was over, and now Toto Wolff has given a brutally honest review of the 2023 Mercedes car.  It echoes the same sentiments we heard last year, too. Mercedes had yet another disappointing race at the Brazilian GP after yesterday’s sprint, with both drivers going backwards in both events. The car, which has been fighting for podiums in recent weeks, has now turned back into a car that is struggling to keep up with the midfield. As you can imagine, Toto Wolff wasn’t too pleased and called today’s performance “inexcusable”, saying to Sky Sports F1: “There’s even no words for that. That car finished second last week and the week before. “And whatever we did to it was horrible. Lewis survived out there. I can only feel for the two of them driving such a miserable thing.cIt shows how difficult the car is on a knife edge. “We’ve got to develop that better for next year because it can’t be that in seven days you go from finishing on the podium, probably one of the two quickest cars, and then you’re nowhere, and you finish eighth. “This car doesn’t deserve a win. “We need to push for the last two races and recover, that’s the most important thing, and see what we can do in Las Vegas at a totally different track and in Abu Dhabi. “But the performance today was… I am just lacking words.” George Russell was one of the six DNFs we saw during this race, retired by Mercedes early due to an imminent power unit failure risk – though it was probably pretty welcome to put him out of his misery. Can Mercedes turn it around for the next two races?
