Horner Had To Stop Verstappen From Drinking Too Much After Claiming Third Title

The three-time world champion may have celebrated his most recent title a little bit too much after securing it on the Saturday of the Qatar GP weekend!  Or, at least, he would have had Christian Horner not put a stop to the celebrations. Though, he still managed to down five gin and tonics before Horner realised – we love a trier. Max won his third title on the Saturday of the Qatar GP weekend, which is quite unusual for an F1 champ. With the main event still to go on Sunday, the celebrations were slightly less wild than they may have been on a Sunday evening. Talking to Dax Shepard on the eff won podcast, Christian said of Max: “He’s just a good guy and he’s a fun guy. He’s old-school as well. He won the championship in Qatar, and I said, ‘Okay, let’s get the whole team together. We’ll just have a couple of drinks. It’s not every day you win a world championship.’ “But it was unusual to win it on a Saturday, right? We’ve a grand prix by the way, in 42 degrees, on Sunday. So everybody needs to be in bed at a sensible time. “Max is five gin and tonics in, and we need to stop, everybody needs to go to bed now. So, everybody was hanging [hungover] on Sunday.” If Verstappen was feeling a bit hungover, we couldn’t tell – he still managed to win the race! ????
