F1 Reportedly Takes Action After A Fight Broke Out Between Fans At Mexican GP

Posted on October 30, 2023 | by Charley Williams An F1 grand prix is supposed to be a happy, fun and memorable experience for everyone in attendance. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case at the Mexican GP, as a fight broke out inside the Foro Sol stadium section during the race.  A video went viral on social media on Sunday that displayed the full extent of the fight, which reportedly followed Charles Leclerc and Sergio Perez’s clash on lap 1. Other fans around the area tried stabilising the situation, but it only escalated. Eventually, the fan who started it was escorted away by security. Fortunately, no other incidents were reported across the weekend and the event was its usual bubbly, atmospheric self – but there were boos aimed at Leclerc as he approached the mic to speak after the race. It prompted Charles to comment: “A lot of booing, a lot of booing, guys. I mean, honestly, I had nowhere to go. I was a bit in between the two Red Bulls and unfortunately, I touched Checo, but I had nowhere to go.” Mexico GP organisers recently launched a new campaign to tackle the disrespect within the F1 community. Signage for the “Racepect” initiative is visibly apparent as you make your way into the circuit. Reports from journalists on the ground, including Chris Medland, indicated that Formula 1 immediately ejected the fan from the circuit and has since been given a lifetime ban from attending any F1 events in the future. No matter how passionate you are about a team or driver, violence is never the answer.
