Sounds Like Hamilton Is Not Impressed With How Marko Treats Perez

This is exactly how we perceive Sergio Perez’s 2023 season. The highest of highs, with the lowest of lows ???? How Red Bull team principal Christian Horner and senior motorsport advisor Helmut Marko have reacted to Perez’s form has been very different. Call it a parenting crisis, perhaps. Whilst Horner has been very firm in his response regarding Checo’s future with Red Bull, particularly for 2024, Marko has done quite the opposite, including suggesting that Perez was actually in danger of losing his seat next year. It’s not gone unnoticed, When Lewis Hamilton was asked about Sergio’s season by Fox Sports, he, too, mentioned the lack of support. “I haven’t been in the exact position that Checo has been in, but, as a driver, I understand the psychological and the mental pressures. They weigh so heavily on you – it’s hard to explain and to put into words. “I don’t think his team has been massively supportive of him. I wouldn’t say ‘the team’ because there are a lot of people within a team, but one particular spokesperson has not been really great and helping psychologically.” We’re pretty sure we know who Lewis is thinking of! And Hamilton pointed out that it’s not the sort of thing he has to deal with at Mercedes either. “You know, If I heard Toto [Wolff] talking about me on the weekends, it would be tough,” he continued. “So, difficult environment for him. But I think he’s dealt with it to the best of his ability.” Turns out Lewis enjoyed Perez’s strong start to 2023 too, even if his title bid was pretty shortlived once Max Verstappen’s year got going. “I was so excited for him at the beginning of the year because he was driving so well,” said Lewis of Perez, “and at one point, I think he was in the lead of the championship, so I was like, oh shoot we finally got the best of Checo!” ☺️ Do you think the lack of support has played into Checo’s performance?
