Lewis Hamilton And Charles Leclerc Have Been Disqualified From The United States GP

JUST WHEN YOU THOUGHT THE RACE WAS OVER! If you were happy with the result of the United States GP, it may be best you don’t finish reading this article, go to bed happy, and forget this ever happened…  Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc have been disqualified from the United States GP! Following a referral to the FIA stewards after the race for failing a plank wear inspection, the stewards have ruled a disqualification is necessary for both of them. FIA technical delegate Jo Bauer found the “skids” on the underside of Hamilton and Leclerc’s cars to “not be in compliance with Article 3.5.9 e) of the 2023 Formula 1 Technical Regualtions.” This regulation refers to the thickness of the plank assembly, which measured normal to the lower surface must be 10mm ± 0.2mm when new, but a minimum thickness of 9mm will be accepted due to wear. After referring his findings to the stewards, they have ruled disqualification for both drivers. Official FIA documents state that both teams acknowledged that the measurement performed by the FIA Technical Team was correct and stated that the high wear on the skid pads was probably a result of the unique combination of the bumpy track and the Sprint race schedule that minimized the time to set up and check the car before the race.  However, the stewards argued that it’s up to the competitor to ensure that the car is in compliance with the regulations at all times during an event. Hamilton finished P2 behind Max Verstappen, even after team decisions regarding strategy left Lewis on the backfoot. Leclerc finished sixth after braving the one-stop strategy. This exclusion from both drivers has revised the results of the United States GP quite a lot. Lando Norris will be promoted to P2, with Carlos Sainz taking the last podium spot. Logan Sargeant now has his first points in F1 and gives Williams their first double points finish since 2021. Here is the revised top 10:  1. Max Verstappen 2. Lando Norris 3. Carlos Sainz 4. Sergio Perez 5. George Russell 6. Pierre Gasly 7. Lance Stroll 8. Yuki Tsunoda 9. Alex Albon 10. Logan SargeantWell, what a dramatic end to the US GP!
