Lawrence Stroll’s Stance On Adding An 11th Team To The F1 Grid Is Quite Strong

Posted on October 5, 2023 | by Charley Williams While many fans (and Andretti themselves) will be crossing their fingers for F1 to allow an 11th team onto the F1 grid, Aston Martin CEO Lawrence Stroll won’t be rolling out the red carpet to welcome them anytime soon! Or would it be a green carpet? Either way, it’s a big no ❌  Earlier this week, it was announced that the FIA had approved Andretti’s bid to join the F1 grid. But it now lies in the hands of F1 to approve. Andretti’s push to become the 11th team on the grid has received mixed reactions, the majority of the negative ones coming from the already existing F1 teams on the grid and the people behind the sport itself. In 2021, F1 and the teams agreed that any new team would have to pay a $200million expansion fee to be evenly split between the teams to compensate for the perceived team value dilution caused by the new team entering. But now, the teams feel that the price is too low. Coming into Qatar, we expect this topic to be explored with everyone. But it seems the first person to speak up on the matter is Aston Martin CEO Lawrence Stroll. He was asked for his opinion on an 11th team by Sky Sports, and said: “I think F1 at the moment, the business is on fire, the sport’s never been in a better place, and I believe if it ain’t broke, you don’t need to fix it. “I’m a strong believer that it’s working really well with 10 teams right now, and believe that’s the way it should stay.” Tell us how you really feel, Lawrence! ???? Do you think the current teams will block Andretti’s bid to join the grid?
