We Could Be Watching F1 On AppleTV If Multi-Billion Deal Is Done

Posted on October 2, 2023 | by Charley Williams *Enter evil laugh here* Apple is set to take over the world! Alright, maybe not literally, but the F1 world, at least. According to reports, they could be ready to make a considerable offer to take over the global broadcasting rights to the championship. Interesting.  The BusinessF1 magazine has reported that Apple is considering making quite a hefty offer to Formula 1. The offer could be as high as $2billion a year, much more than what F1 is currently receiving from several global TV broadcasters worldwide. Sky Sports, for example, reportedly pay £200million a year for the exclusive rights in the UK and Ireland, with a contract set to last until 2029. Apple’s recent success with the American Major League Soccer is what has reportedly provided them with the motive to go after other sporting events to broadcast, as BusinessF1 also reported that Apple is considering going after the English Premier League, too. If the bid were to go through, Apple would gain exclusive broadcasting rights – but not overnight. It’s believed that they would be offered a small percentage first, with the aim of achieving 100% exclusivity after five years. Apple is currently involved with F1 with the un-named Brad Pitt movie, which Lewis Hamilton is co-producing. Pitt stars as a driver who comes out of retirement to compete alongside a rookie driver against the titans of the sport. A first look at the film was given at the 2023 British GP, where the ‘APXGP’ cars were seen driving around the track in between sessions. Since then, we’ve seen them film scenes at a few grand prix venues. Does this mean we won’t hear the “and it was all yellow” DHL advert 12 times a day? If you know, you know ???? Would you be happy to watch F1 on AppleTV?
