Liam Lawson’s Radio Reveals The Secret Behind A Good F1 Race Start

Whilst we’re sure those traits probably have something to do with ensuring an F1 driver’s reaction times are as fast as lightning, Liam Lawson has another not-so-secret asset.  CAFFEINE! ☕ After the Singapore GP, despite his first F1 points finish after an incredible P9 performance (the highest of any of the four AlphaTauri drivers this season), he wasn’t completely content with his drive. This was due to his race start – on the opening lap, he slipped from 10th down to 12th and told the media it was something he needed “to get on top of.” A week later, at the Japanese GP, it seems he found his secret weapon to a successful start. As the race ended, the team took to the radio to compliment Lawson’s performance and highlighted his race start, Liam responded: “I know, mate. I had so much caffeine before the race, it f***ing lit me up!” ???? Lawson finished 11th, just outside the points and in front of his teammate Tsunoda. But he did have to fight Yuki to get there. On the opening laps, he held off Tsunoda in what can only be described as a *chef’s kiss* battle between the pair. But it did raise questions on whether AlphaTauri, who have chosen to stick with Tsunoda and Daniel Ricciardo for 2024, have made the correct choice by putting Liam back on the sidelines. Liam is improving every week – should he have been given the AlphaTauri drive for 2024?
