Christian Horner Pokes Fun At Toto Wolff’s ‘Wikipedia’ Red Bull Comments

Posted on September 22, 2023 | by Charley Williams Tell you what, with all this free promo that Wikipedia has received recently, it’s about time F1 sponsored them! ???? If you thought this story was over – don’t worry, so did we! But Christian Horner has offered a fresh dig at Toto Wolff. Bit late to the party, Christian, but it’s okay. It’s been over a week since the latest episode of Keeping Up With The F1 Teams when Max Verstappen responded to Wolff’s comments at the Italian GP dismissing Max’s F1 win streak as just a stat no one would read on Wikipedia. Max hit back ahead of Singapore by saying: “They had a pretty s**t race, so probably he was still p***ed off with their performance. He almost sounds like he’s an employee of our team sometimes. But luckily not.” This whole saga started with Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton, suggesting that Verstappen has had an easy ride to gaining his world championships by not having teammates who have challenged him during his current dominant era. Verstappen then responded, accusing Lewis of being “jealous” of his success and accused Mercedes of having a “hard time dealing with losing” at the moment. After that, Toto made that somewhat spicy remark about Red Bull’s record-breaking success. After Max claimed his 10th consecutive win at the Italian GP, Toto told Sky Sports: “I don’t know whether he cares about the records, it’s not something that would be important for me, any of those numbers. It’s not Wikipedia, nobody reads that anyway.” Christian Horner has stayed relatively tight-lipped on the situation, but in the Japanese GP press conference, he quipped: “If we can close out these two titles at the next few races – I know nobody looks at Wikipedia these days – it’s an achievement we’ll be very proud of.”  Red Bull can win the constructors’ title in Japan this weekend. Essentially, they need to outscore Mercedes by only one point and avoid being outscored by Ferrari by 24 points. A Red Bull 1-2 and the fastest lap would secure this. Max, however, will have to wait until the next race in Qatar to try to secure his third consecutive title. We hope this dig is the last of this saga!
