Lance Stroll Provides Extra Detail On Why He Decided To Miss Singapore GP

Posted on September 22, 2023 | by Charley Williams Good news, everyone: Lance Stroll (and his car) are back! After a terrifying crash during qualifying for the Singapore GP, Aston Martin announced just hours before the race began that Lance would not race due to still “feeling the after-effects” of the accident. Stroll crashed at the final corner of the Marina Bay circuit whilst pushing hard to make it through to Q2 when he had a snap of oversteer that unsettled the car and sent him into the barriers. He told his team he was okay over the radio, got out of the car unaided and later passed fit to race by the medical team at the track. His eventual absence was put down to Lance still being a bit sore from the crash, and that repairing the car in time would be too big of a job. Lance took to social media on Wednesday to say he was “ready to race this weekend”, confirming his attendance. He told the media, including The Race, on Thursday that he had recovered now and provided some more details about why he and the team mutually decided to withdraw from the previous race. When asked how he was feeling, he said: “Much better than I felt on Sunday, I’m feeling okay now. “I was fine, I was… healthy to race, but I wasn’t physically feeling good enough to do Singapore, which is the hardest race of the year. “I felt it creeping up on me on Saturday night, and I knew it wasn’t going to be fun waking up on Sunday. “I went through all the concussion protocols and tests and stuff and did all my tests and stuff, and they just kind of said, ‘See how you feel later in the night,’ and then make a decision tomorrow.” He continued: “If I would’ve felt fine and really good, I would’ve raced. But I just didn’t really feel like it was the right thing to do, and I think it would’ve delayed my recovery to coming here and feeling 100%.” We’re happy to see him fully recovered and back this weekend! ????
