Lance Stroll Is Out Of Singapore GP Following “High-Impact” Qualifying Crash

Posted on September 17, 2023 | by Charley Williams Aston Martin has announced that Lance Stroll will not race in today’s Singapore Grand Prix following his huge crash in qualifying, with the team revealing he is still “feeling the after-effects”. Stroll crashed at the final corner of the Marina Bay circuit whilst pushing hard to make it through to Q2 when he suffered from a snap of oversteer after driving over the kerbs. This unsettled the car, and Lance was sent into the barriers. Over the radio, Lance was heard telling his engineers he was okay. He got out of the car unaided and was later passed fit by the medical team. But just hours before the Singapore GP was set to begin, Aston Martin released a statement: “Following Lance’s crash in qualifying during the Singapore Grand Prix, Lance and Aston Martin have jointly agreed that he will not participate in the Singapore Grand Prix this evening. “The team face a huge job repairing the car today, and understandably, Lance is still sore following such a high impact. Lance’s focus now shifts to fully recovering ahead of the Japanese Grand Prix.” “The whole team are relieved that Lance was able to step out of the car after yesterday’s accident – however, he is still feeling the after-effects of such a high-impact crash,” said team principal Mike Krack. “Our priority now is that he makes a full and speedy recovery. Together, we have decided that he will sit out this evening’s race and instead focus fully on returning to the cockpit for next weekend’s Japanese Grand Prix.” As the team cannot call upon a replacement at such late notice, Stroll’s Aston Martin will be absent from the race entirely. We hope Lance feels better soon!
