Milan, 05 August 2024 | 11:48 Europe/Amsterdam PIRELLI AND FAGGIOLI STAR AT RIETI-TERMINILLO HILLCLIMB The Italian champion wins the race with his Nova Proto NP01 Bardahl competition car and, in a Porsche 911 (992) sets the benchmark time for a road car UPO02347 How long does it take to reach the sky in a car? Simple, 4’50.76 and 6’09.10. Those are the times set by Simone Faggioli on the Rieti-Terminillo hillclimb course yesterday, the first in a prototype competition car, the Nova Proto NP01 Bardahl and the second in a roadgoing Porsche 911 (992) both fitted with Pirelli tyres. In the first car, Faggioli won the race counting towards the Italian Hillclimb Speed Championship North and South and with the second, as part of the new “Set the Time” initiative, the Tuscan driver, for the first time in Europe, set the benchmark time for a non-competition car to cover the 13.450 kilometres of the hillclimb course. That time will now be the future baseline for all marques that want to try their hand at setting records on the road, in the same vein as those runs at Pikes Peak in the United States.Pirelli equipped the Nova Proto NP01 Bardahl with soft hillclimb tyres from the P Zero competition range and as usual provided the Florentine with technical support. Trofeo R tyres, also from the P Zero range were fitted to the Porsche road car that finished 27th in the overall standings, ahead of a good number of prototype cars which were all running on racing tyres. The Trofeo R is an ultra-low profile tyre with an asymmetric design and is part of the P Zero family, the highest performance level of the entire Pirelli range, which is constantly undergoing technological evolution. Also suitable for road use, the Trofeo R was designed for track use in dry conditions, intended for the most powerful, high performance road cars. UPO04543 UPO04554
