Formula 3 returns with three days of in-season testing in Barcelona

After two entertaining rounds of racing to start the year, the 2024 FIA Formula 3 season returns to the track for three days of in-season testing at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.Starting on Tuesday, the test will give the drivers and their teams a chance to put their learnings from the opening rounds into practice as they seek to improve their performance before the European leg of the calendar kicks off, starting in Imola for Round 3.WHAT TO EXPECTRunning from April 16-18, the field will be given a total of six hours of track time each day. The morning session on all three days will start at 09:00 local time and will run until noon. The afternoon session on the first two days will start at 14:00 before the chequered flag is waved at 17:00. There is a slight change in timings on the last day, as the final segment will start at 13:00 with the test ending at 16:00. Pirelli will be allocating eight sets of the hard tyre to each car for the duration of the test, plus three sets of wet tyres should they be required. Luke Browning has one win this season and is currently the joint-leader in the Drivers' ChampionshipTHE FIELDThere is currently a tie at the top of the Drivers’ Championship, with Hitech Pulse-Eight’s Luke Browning and Trident’s Leonardo Fornaroli leading the way on 37 points.Fornaroli, as well as PREMA Racing’s Gabriele Minì, and Campos Racing’s Oliver Goethe are the only drivers to have scored points in all four races this season.Only two teams have won races this year, with Arvid Lindblad and Dino Beganovic race winners for PREMA, while Browning and Martinius Stenshorne have taken top spot for Hitech.All four of those drivers are first time race winners in Formula 3.Beganovic has 28 points so far this season, the same points haul he had at this same stage in 2023.19 drivers have scored points so far this season, while nine have achieved podium finishes so far.PREMA currently lead the way in the Teams’ Championship with 83 points. Trident are second on 60, while Hitech currently sit in third with 47 points.
